In 2016 The Korea National Food Cluster is applying changes as follows

1. 1. Creating the National Food Cluster industrial complex

   Completed the site development for the National Food Cluster industrial complex

   2014.3 completed it in the end of 2016

   The industrial complex development work, which started in March 2014, is expected to be completed by the end of 2016 with the possibility of starting the construction of the factory. The company is hoping to move into the complex early this year.

2. 2. Completing the construction of the company supporting facility in the Korea National Food Cluster

   The construction of six company supporting facilities in the Korea National Food Cluster is slated to be completed by the end of July in 2016.

   The Korea National Food Cluster supporting center is currently being operated in two separate temporary research center at Gwacheon and Iksan. After the construction project is over, the facility will be moved to the industrial complex for operation

   * Food Quality and Safety Center, Functional Food Evaluation Center, Food Packaging Center, Pilot Plant, Food Venture Center (Rental factory), and Agency for National Food Cluster

3. 3. Establishing a one-stop support system for resident companies

   The Korea National Food Cluster industrial complex managing agency will be restructured into the support center

   If the industrial complex management agency is moved from the current Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to the support center, it would be possible to provide one-stop support to the resident companies moving into the complex. * <(Tentatively named) the Special Act on Assigning and Operating the Regulatory Free Zone> Enforced after enactment

4. 4. Starting the Movement into the Foreign Investment Zone (FIZ)

   Movement of foreign companies into the Foreign Investment Zone of the Korea National Food Cluster

   • * (Residence Requirements) The foreign investment company needs to be registered with 30% or more foreigner investment ratio and commit to a minimum of foreigner investment amount equivalent to 100 million KRW.
5. 5. Expanding the hiring of foreign experts

   Easing the regulations on the hiring of foreign experts for the foreign investment companies in the National Food Cluster

6. 6. Expanding technical assistance for the food company

   Developing technology collaborations with participation from food companies by expanding the technical assistance budget

   ?Facilitating joint technology research on the functionality, quality and safety, and packaging by securing a technology development support budget of 800 million KRW, which is increased by 300 million KRW than the budget allocation for 2015.

7. 7. Supporting the overseas sales promotion activities of food companies

   Strengthening the support for corporate PR activities through the overseas investment invitation hall

   Supporting product display and sales promotion of the future resident companies by using the National Food Cluster investment invitation hall during overseas investment invitation seminars and expos

8. 8. Establishing the system for supporting the cultivation and supply of food industry manpower

   Cultivating food industry manpower and providing relevant services

   • Operating three education programs such as the short-term function, specialized education, and management education for developing and strengthening the competence of food industry manpower
   • Support for the resident companies? participation in job fairs and holding job fairs to hire young workforce
   • * Visiting nearby high schools and universities to promote industry-academia cooperation
9. 9. Setting up a system for supporting food ventures

   Finding and supporting good food ventures and holding technical presentations

   • Selecting good companies through food venture competitions and supporting their movement into the food venture center which will be used as a rental factory
   • Holding seminars and technical presentations on venture business certification for resident companies, prep entrepreneurs, etc.
